Madness in Murshidabad (Day I)

we started our journey with enthusiasm on the cold and misty morning on January 14th, our first halt being, at the Serampore College- the oldest college in the east founded by William Carey which is about 3 centuries old! The campus had the ancient British architecture, overlooking the Hoogly river bank- a soothing sight to the eyes.
Our next destination was Chandannagar, a former French colony to see the Sacred heart Church- 2 centuries old, yet an epitome of French architectural geniuses.
Our last stop was at the Bandel Church. Influenced by the Portuguese settlements during the British-Mughal periods, the town was replicated with Portuguese infrastructure in the olden times. The Church, which was 5 centuries old, was very well maintained and not in ruins unlike the other ancient monuments. The church was basically made for the sailors sailing back to their motherland after trading here in Bandel. It prayed for the safety of these sailors against the violent seas.
Thus, we ended our journey on the 14th at Murshidabad at midnight and laid ourselves to rest and gather energy for the next intriguing journey that followed the next day.
