Our next destination was Chandannagar, a former French colony to see the Sacred heart Church- 2 centuries old, yet an epitome of French architectural geniuses.
Our last stop was at the Bandel Church. Influenced by the Portuguese settlements during the British-Mughal periods, the town was replicated with Portuguese infrastructure in the olden times. The Church, which was 5 centuries old, was very well maintained and not in ruins unlike the other ancient monuments. The church was basically made for the sailors sailing back to their motherland after trading here in Bandel. It prayed for the safety of these sailors against the violent seas.
Thus, we ended our journey on the 14th at Murshidabad at midnight and laid ourselves to rest and gather energy for the next intriguing journey that followed the next day.
Confessions of a traveler…….
ReplyDeleteI am still in wonderment of this trip we made together to Murshidabad. It is clear that this was more than just another trip from an Institution. This was a journey of leadership and human endeavour.I got glimpses of leadership among us too.Mr.Chopra himself was the biggest example! His enthusiasm was truly infectious. His knowledge on several issues, like people, places, mangoes, gulabjal, was so interesting.
I saw leadership in Aakash and Zohad especially in the little things they did for others. Benjamin was a class apart with his sense of humour and ability to pull the group together.Nikita was a bundle of energy-one must find out what her Mum feeds her! Nitika dropped her studious garb and regaled everyone with her oneliners!!! Vishal swung into action, despite dietary restrictions, and grooved like never before.Guria,Meenakshi,Vedant had a repertoire of songs for all seasons. They were unstoppable.Safique walked around keeping a brotherly eye on everyone. In fact, my tour of the Hazarduari museum was quiet, reflective and highly memorable.Safique never spoke but took in all. Often, we would just manage to say” wow.”
I was in total admiration of the girls, who despite rationed bathwater, managed to have hair washes and turn up and make fashion statements!
I noticed those leaders that were willing to go unnoticed yet made their mark.Urvi was the most understated, elegant traveler.Adnan floated like a butterfly and clicked photographs where most didn’t dare to tread. The photos were proof of this.Mukto,Priyanka and Kaveri were elusive threesome-being a part of the whole.Devyani,Priyal and Soumya-another threesome, quietly present everywhere-I nicknamed them” Three peas in a pod”
Sam, Aditi, Sneha, Ketan, Varsha- just being there with us lent a new fragrance. Despite other commitments, you chose to be with the group that in itself was a sign of leading. Wish it could be repeated here at iLEAD.
Akshat,Ankit,Vishnu were always there to lend a helping hand and sometimes vanish from the scene for more fruitful activity. The stories of pomp and wealth were captivating. Often I felt this threesome would vanish in an effort to find a gold mine-Yeh Dil Maange More!
Leaders all communicate well-The best representative of this was Shivangi.I was often stumped by her generous use of adjectives to describe things she had seen and read. Her photographs were rare, her perceptions unusual!
Others who led from behind were the strong yet silent cooks and tour operators who managed to show their assertiveness through their skills.
As we passed the corridors of fame, shame, intrigue and courage, we are reminded of the human endeavours of those men and women who came from various parts of the world and made Bengal their home. It takes a state of “discomfort” to bring out the best in each one of the personalities. Allow this state of discomfort to wake you from your passive state to a more active state.
Wake the leader in you! Time waits for none!
very nice Devyani! who's writing about Day 2 then? :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Adnan, please post the links to the photoblog on Picasa. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteAnyway, I hope you liked it.
@Sonali maam- Your piece is awesome! You should have posted the experiences instead of me. And yes, it is 'four peas in a pod'. You forgot to include Nikita. lol.

ReplyDelete@ sonali mam - awesome ascertainment
ReplyDeleteTo begin with ,
ReplyDeleteI would firstly thank all the ILEADERS (which includes the faculty and Pradeep Sir) for finally making this event come true specially after a hectic wait. Moving on I would say that this event had certain aspects where the only thing we could say was "WOW" and some aspects where we could improve on.. Well nevertheless I was extremely joyous and extremely pompous about the fact that i got the opportunity to go out with 50 different individuals each with a different frame of thought process.. Each putting in whatever they wanted to see.. The sight seeing was awesome and it was indeed a pleasure to sit on the tonga... (I was singing AELO AELO from ANDAAZ APNA APNA on the tonga :P) Personally i believe that we could have stayed their for a day longer but nevertheless I am glad that I got to know about a lot of things and a lot of people and had tremendous fun with my group. Two people who i personally missed were Purvi Modi and Pragya Mam. We will make sure that the next time we hang out we would take all the people from the campus .... Well i would love to sign out by saying “ One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things..."
Thank you
Love you all
